Nike is back with more new NFL uniforms, this time giving the team of the 2010’s a new look. For the first time in 20 years, the New England Patriots will be getting new primary uniforms.

If this uniform look familiar, that’s because it is. The Patriots have worn this as their alternate/color rush set for the past four season. I think making it their new home primary was a fantastic decision. With the success the Pats have had, they weren’t going to go too far out of the box when redesigning. Instead they will look to have a traditional look that will be people think of when thinking of the NFL.
I love everything about this uniform. The navy blue and red mesh perfectly. The shoulder stripes are simple but match the numbers. New England is also lucky as their Patriots logo is a perfect fit on the side of the shoulders. Switching from silver to navy pants is also a slight change that makes a huge difference. 9.4/10
Away
The second new uniform is the same design as the first, with colors switched around to go with the white base. I think the colors pop way more on the home, but the away can still hold its’ own. The images released today show the white top being worn with navy pants, but I am hoping they will switch those out for white pants for some games.
The one questionable choice with this uniform is the shoulder stripes. It’s consistent with the number and outline color, but I would be curious if white replacing the blue, or flipping the blue and red stripes would look better. 8.3/10
Overall, the Patriots now have a top 3 home and away set in the NFL. The colors are bold, the design is simple, and these are for sure to look super clean when the Pats take the field in 2020. This also gives hope to other NFL teams with traditional uniforms; that Nike can take their history and simplicity, make slight upgrades, and those teams can have the best of both worlds.
