ATL FALCONS ARE HERE

The leaks have won again. The same day the Buccaneers released their new uniforms, photos showing off the new Falcons uniforms surfaced and today Atlanta officially released them. These are the first new Falcons uniforms in 17 years which feature three new tops as well as a throwback, which can be mixed and matched with three new bottoms.

Home Black

The all black look is definitely my favorite of the new sets, which all feature very similar features. Every top features the “ATL” script above the number, which has a shadow effect. If I could change one thing on any of these uniforms, it would be the “ATL” script. Just say Atlanta. And I would have preferred it to be in white, but red doesn’t look terrible. The red stripe down the side leads right into the pants which gives the red a little more accent power. 8.2/10

Away White

The all white is a fantastic look but also matches great with black pants. This uni meshes well with the facemask, which is technically chrome but looks like white from afar. The black numbers pop and the red ATL actually looks best here, I still just wish it said Atlanta. The more you look at these, the more they look like an XFL jersey. 7.6/10

Red Alternate

Trying to take a note out of the Diamondbacks playbook, the fading uniform is simply not going to catch on in professional sports. Finally the ATL and numbers are the same color and they ruin it by taking the red and fading it into the black pants. This also prevents a red jersey/white pants combo, which would have been a solid look. 5.5/10

Throwbacks

One of the best throwbacks in NFL history returns and I wouldn’t have been mad if this was the new full time home uniform. The matte black helmet features the old falcons logo and has a black facemask, which I prefer over the chrome.
More traditional numbers with a normal outline and no ATL script definitely work and make you realize how they are more “bold moves” on the new uniforms. 9.0/10

The Falcons already had solid uniforms and given the fact they didn’t change their logo or colors, they will look very similar when playing on the field. I can see these uniforms lasting another 17 years though, which would be a big win for the redesign.
